| 1. CBCGB typically conducts
child dedication twice a year, at Mother's Day and at
end of year services. Notice is posted in the bulletin
four weeks prior to the dedication service.
2. Four (4) weeks prior to the date of dedication:
Prayerfully review the Child
Dedication Covenant with your spouse. Complete the
application
form and contact the congregational pastor to arrange
an interview at least two (2) weeks prior to the ceremony.
3. On the day of dedication, please come to the sanctuary
with your child fifteen minutes before the start of
worship. Sit in the front row, in alphabetical order
(by last name). This is a family event, so siblings
are welcome to attend the dedication.
4. At the appointed time in the service, the officiating
pastor will call all families to stand on the platform.
The pastor will offer a brief word of explanation and
exhortation. Then each set of parents will be asked
the respond to the following:
a. Do you as parents of ____________ recognize him/her
as a gift of God entrusted to you by God?
b. Do you give him/her back to the Lord for whatever
purpose God may have for his/her life?
c. Will you seek by your example, prayers, love, discipline
and instruction in God's Word, to raise him/her to know
Christ as his/her Savior and to worship and serve God
throughout his/her life?
The pastor will then pray on behalf of the congregation,
committing the child to God.
5. Once all children have been dedicated, the pastor
will ask the congregation to rise and commit the children
to the nurture of the Lord and the Church.
6. The pastor and an elder will present the family
with the signed Child Dedication Covenant, and the family
may be seated.
