  3. Board of Elders (“BoE”) Sharing (Elder Liqin Chen)
  1. Recap of BoE November Meeting including:
  1. Recap of Metrosouth Report
  2. Bylaw revision special membership meeting vote is scheduled for December 15, 2013.  Revision, white paper will be released 2-3 weeks ahead of time.
  3. Review of Annual Meeting
  4. Next Missions Committee chair will be Eric Chu
  5. Recap of Quincy Fellowship Ministry Briefing
  6. Thanksgiving special offer for this year will be Church Building Expansion (CBE) fund since benevolence and seminarian fund is fully funded.  
  7. CBE town hall meeting scheduled nov 17th.
  8. Church council retreat held at Elder KC house
  9. LCD Lobby/Website, content coordinator
  10. New Elder/Deacon Orientation session
  1. Question regarding Thanksgiving special offering -  Seminary Fund is now part of general fund, so it no longer needs a special offering.  Would like to better communicate to congregation as to why the special offering has changed.  Can people can still give to the benevolence fund?  Details  need to be clarified.
  2. Question regarding LCD display - Is there a policy for content?  The website team also has these concerns.  Should there be a communications team or ministry?  Elder Liqin will bring these questions back to the BoE.

  1. Pastoral Sharing / Natural Gas Conversion Project (Pastor Caleb Chang)
  1. Pastor Caleb provided an update on natural gas conversion project for 151 Spring Street & Church Office.  Planned installation for natural gas line is Spring 2014.  However, the church office heating system is aging and may need to be fixed or replaced ASAP before the natural gas lines are installed.
  2. In light of the current need (at minimum, boiler must be patched and 4 circulator pumps must be replaced ASAP), should the boiler and water pump also be replaced?
  1. Option 1 - replace boiler with dual-fuel Buderus, replace circulators, replace water heater
  1. $16K now
  2.  $6K in spring to convert boiler from oil to gas
  1. Option 2 - patch boiler, replace circulators, replace water heater
  1. $6.3K now
  2. $10K in spring to replace boiler with gas furnace
  1. What will happen if the system fails this year?  Discussion regarding the risks around water heater and boiler failure.
  2. Motion to approve up to $6300 to update the church office heating system including patching the boiler, replace circulators, and replace the water heater by Emily Cheng.  Seconded by Philip Sailer.  Motion approved.
  1. Stewardship Update (Howard Chen)
  1. No updates.
  2. Discussion regarding Stewardship Chair and Stewardship Committee to build a stronger sustainable stewardship committee for future support.

  1.  For the budget summary - up to October 31, our total expense is at 28.0%, and our total offering is at 31.9% of the total annual budget. For any budget item that has expended more than 33.3%
  2. We are getting closer to balancing our budget.
  3. Ji-yong provided a special summary of Missions fund report.
  4. Financial committee will begin investigating the possibility of accepting stock donations.
  1. Health Insurance Plan (Ji-yong Wang)
  1. For next year, the decision regarding health insurance plans for staff will be shifted to the Human Resource Committee.
  2. For this year, Ji-yong, as treasurer, will continue to investigate.
