Pastor Caleb opened with prayer at 7:52 pm.

1. Vision

1. Elder Tsai described his viewpoint on how to approach the visioning process, based on ideals found on The Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren. Elder Tsai’s approach focuses on rating the current church situation against the five church purposes (as established by The Purpose Driven Church), the seven church ministries and the seven church congregations, then focusing on areas where we believe the current church situation could be improved as a vision statement. Elder Tsai’s preliminary vision statement: “To become a Christian spiritual center for many people in the Boston area to know God and magnify Him, who are either believers or seekers, either Chinese or non-Chinese but all appreciative of Chinese culture, either English- or Chinese-speaking, either young or old.”
2. Elder Ho described his vision for the church: focus on prayer, overseas missions and love (hospitality and encouragement).
3. Elder Chu described his vision for the church: focus on strengthening the main Lexington campus (spiritually, financially and physically), missions, evangelism and church planting.
4. Discussed the difference between “mission/purpose” and “vision”. Discussed CBCGB’s uniqueness and our own vision regarding CBCGB as Elders. Elder Hung reminded the BoE that a church vision can change over time.
5. Pastor Caleb stressed that CBCGB, as a large church, needs to be an example to other churches and help/serve them. Pastor Caleb stated Pittsburgh Chinese Church’s Purpose Statement as a reference point: Exalt the glory of God, expand the kingdom of God, equip the saints and establish the family of God. Pastor Caleb also presented his attendance and financial projections for the Chinese and English congregations as another reference point and his dream for CBCGB.
6. Discussion tabled until further notice.

2. Policy for Processing Capital Expenditure

1. Reviewed the current Policy for Processing Capital Expenditure. Discussed and approved revisions, pending further discussion with the BoD regarding the BoD-approved revision to restrict capital expenditures to $3,000.*

Pastor Caleb closed with prayer at 10:50pm.

* Subsequent to this meeting, the Finance Committee requested lowering of the restriction to $2,000, which was granted per Elder Chu’s e-mail dated August 19, 2012.

1. 願景

1. 蔡 長老以華理克牧師的《直奔標杆 - 成為目標導向的教會》一書，對如何達成願景的規劃，發表他的觀點。長老蔡的看法，著眼點在於把教會當前的情況作出評比，對照該書所提列教會的五個目的、七 項教會事工和的七組教會的會眾，然後專注在我們認為當前教會可改善之處，作成願景的文字聲明。蔡長老初步的願景聲明為：「對波士頓地區許多人而言，是基督 徒屬靈的中心，為要認識上帝並彰顯他，無論是信徒還是未信者，無論是所有喜愛中華文化的華人還是非華人，無論是說英語或華語，無論是年輕還是年老。」
2. 何長老描述了他對教會願景的看法：專注禱告、海外宣教和愛（殷勤接待和鼓勵）。
3. 朱長老描述了他對教會願景的看法：專注於勒星頓鎮母堂的茁壯（屬靈上、財務上和實體上）、宣教、傳福音和植堂。

2. 處理資本開支作業方式
