CBCGB Board of Elders Meeting Minutes, 2016/07/09

Present: Senior Pastor Caleb Chang, Bryan Che (Secretary), Ke-Chieh Chu (Chair), Yuguang He, David Ho, Timothy Lu, Xinwen Wang (Board of Deacons [“BoD”] Representative), Haiguo Wu (Board of Deacons [“BoD”] Representative)

Absent: Terry Yang

• KC opened in prayer at 9:03am
• Brief sharing (All)

• Pastor Caleb and Esther appreciated the church’s support on their trip to COCM
• Bryan shared an update about a potential ministry opportunity
• David shared about a special seminar that went well

• Updates about the state of the church (Pastor Caleb)

• Pastor Caleb had a good trip to visit COCM
• Youth Pastor Search: Stanley Chang and his wife Christine were an official candidate for this opening and visited us. Now discussing with them
• English Pastor Search: search is still on-going
• MetroSouth independence proceeding, and government paperwork for tax-exemption approvals came in ahead of schedule. Now discussing the date and timeline for them to become officially independent
• Church Council approved HVAC replacement project, and it will now proceed
• Pastor Caleb is scheduled to have his sabbatical April 2017 to September 2017

• Board of Deacon Updates (Haiguo)

• Technology committee is looking to upgrade chapel projection system to support higher resolutions
• Parking lot expansion and construction around the church office is complete
• Discussing parking arrangements and new contract with Stride Rite property manager as well as other potential areas around CBCGB
• Looking to build new stairway from upper parking lot to main building
• Playground construction is complete

• Deacon Nomination Updates         (David Ho)

• Have 7 openings to fill in next year’s deacon board
• BoE approved list of deacon candidates to nominate

• CBCGB Mission Statement and Strategic Goal Planning (Bryan and all)

• Discussed plans and process to create a CBCGB mission statement to support the vision statement
• BoE will charter a committee, led by Bryan Che, to lead the process for creating a mission statement

• Elder Nomination (KC and All)

• Discussed potential candidates for the BoE
• Bryan will draft a policy document regarding serving expectations for members of the BoE

• Video conference (Bryan)

• Bryan will discuss with Technology Committee chair Josh Chang about implementing a video conference system in the church office
