Facility & Property Manager

 

Position Summary: 

The Facility & Property Manager is responsible for Church maintenance, upkeep, use and safety of the property, buildings, infrastructure and equipment of Chinese Bible Church of Greater Boston (CBCGB). Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Stewardship Deacon and Office Administrative & Property Director. Responsibilities are accomplished through the coordination and interaction with Pastoral Staff & Church staff, church ministries & volunteers, relevant church groups, and outside entities. This position is both a paid staff position and a ministry in its own right.  

Job Responsibilities:  Duties as listed but are not limited to the following:

  • Overseeing the operation and maintenance of the church’s equipment, buildings  and grounds
  • Negotiate contracts and hire outside independent contractors after Stewardship Deacon approval
  • Supervising or Performing janitorial/cleaning of the facilities mid-week, weekends as needed
  • Supervising or Performing minor church maintenance
  • Project management of property projects (schedule and coordinate repairs, etc.)
  • Managing Church property by working with theOffice Administrative & Property Director and /or Stewardship Deacon to report problem and provide solutions   
  • Provide inputs of the annual budget to Stewardship Deacon & Committee
  • Serve as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require working on evening and/or weekend
  • Periodic walkthroughs the church to access the conditions of the church building & property
  • Act as our Ambassador to the outside (neighbors, town inspectors, town administrators, insurance inspectors, vendors, contractors, etc.)
  • Work closely with Church PropertyTechnician, Office Administrative & Property Director and Stewardship Deacon.

Supervision: This position reports primarily to Administration & Property Director, and a strong dotted line to Stewardship Deacon.

Hours: The hours for this position are approximately 20-25 hours per week. This is not home base and the person is expected to be presented at Church during the week, Friday night and Sunday to address any unforeseen church propertyissues. Some weekend hours may be required during special events.  Additional compensation will be given for hours that exceed normal work hours with the approval by Admin. & Property Director and/or Stewardship Deacon   

Qualifications: As a member of the staff and a ministry leader, the Facility & Property Manager is to be a born-again Christian, in an active relationship with Jesus Christ, and a member in good standing with CBCGB (membership highly desirable, but not mandatory).  He/She must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.  Other job-specific qualifications include:

  • Trustworthy
  • Have the church's best interest at heart
  • Knowledge of security practices and protocol related to facility management
  • Knowledge of safety practices and applicable regulations
  • Excellent negotiation skills with outside vendors/contractors for projects and contracts
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge in all Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to works with all sorts of people, both Christians and non Christians
  • Excellent communication skills, both English & Chinese
  • Ability to build relationships with people inside and outside of the church
  • A good understanding and knowledge of property maintenance
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and other factors
  • Have a valid MA Driver’s License and can drive a car and church van
